How Door Installation Works

1. Free in-home measure. We come out, measure the opening, and check the frame, sill and threshold. Pricing a door from a photo is guessing, so we do not do it.

2. Written quote. You get a number covering the door, the hardware, the labour and anything the opening needs. No allowances that move later.

3. You choose the door. Material, style, glass, finish and hardware. We bring options rather than sending you to a showroom on your own.

4. Removal and preparation. The old door comes out, and we deal with whatever is behind it. Rot at the sill is common on older homes and it is better found now than after the new door is hung.

5. Installation and finish. The door is set plumb, shimmed, insulated around the frame, and the trim finished inside and out. A door that is not set square will not close properly in two years.

What Affects the Cost of a New Door

Door pricing is not one number. Here is what actually moves it.

Material. Steel is the strongest option and usually the most affordable. Fiberglass costs more, handles weather better over years, will not dent, and takes a wood-grain finish convincingly.

Condition of the frame. Swapping in a new door while keeping your old frame can sound like the quickest, cheapest option, but in most homes, the frame is where the real issues hide. Even small amounts of movement, age, or early rot at the sill can prevent a new door from sealing or operating the way it should. Because of that, the frame often ends up needing replacement to get a long‑lasting, properly aligned installation. When the frame is past its prime, that becomes the biggest single swing in any quote. During your measurement appointment, we assess what can be evaluated without disturbing your existing frame and help you understand when a full replacement is the better investment.

Size and type. A standard single entry door costs less than a sliding or French door, which are wider, heavier and take longer to set.

Glass and hardware. Decorative glass, sidelights and multipoint locking all add to the number.

Whether the opening changes. Widening an opening or cutting a new one means framing and header work, and that is a different job from a replacement.

We measure in person and give you a written quote before anything is ordered.

What Else We Handle

Doors and windows are usually replaced together, particularly on older homes where both are original and failing at the same time. We handle window replacement on the same visit where it makes sense.

If the doors are part of a larger project, we also build home additions and take on historic home restoration for period properties.

Door Installation & Replacement FAQs

How much does door installation cost in Camp Hill, PA?

It depends on the door type, the material and whether the existing frame can be reused. A straight replacement into a sound frame costs less than a new opening. We measure in person and give you a written quote before any work starts.

Most single entry doors are fitted in a day. Sliding and French doors take longer, particularly where the opening needs altering. We give you a timeline with the quote.

In most cases, replacing the frame along with the door gives you the best long‑term result. Even when a frame appears square and solid from the outside, hidden rot, movement, or age‑related wear can affect how well a new door seals and operates. A full replacement ensures everything is aligned, secure, and built to last. During your measurement appointment, we confirm what can be seen and assessed without disturbing your existing frame, and we guide you toward the option that will perform best in the long run.

Yes. We work on both modern and period homes across Camp Hill, Lemoyne and Harrisburg, and we can match door styles to the age of the house.

Steel is the stronger option and usually costs less. Fiberglass handles weather better over time, will not dent, and takes a wood-grain finish convincingly. We carry both and will tell you which suits your opening.
